Google has unveiled its top searches, questions and moments that were most important to Canadians in 2023.

Over the past year, Canadians turned to Google to learn more about the war between Israel and Hamas, the box office battle between Barbie and Oppenheimer, and two World Cups – in women’s soccer and cricket.

Canada failed to advance to the qualification round of the Women’s World Cup tournament — hosted by Australia and New Zealand July 20-Aug. 20 — coming in third in Group B, behind first-place Australia and Nigeria.
Spain was eventually crowned champion after defeating reigning European champion England. It marked the first win for the country and they became the first European team to win since Germany in 2007.
