NHL about to get it wrong on suspension for Maple Leafs’ Morgan Rielly

Two games. That’s how long Maple Leafs defenceman Morgan Rielly should be suspended for his cross-check on Senators’ Ridly Greig during a Feb. 10 game, Terry Koshan wrote.

And in another related top story, Joe Warmington chatted with Don Cherry, who also suggested that if Rielly were to get a six-game suspension, that would be four games too many.

But that, as Leafs fans now know, was wishful thinking, and Rielly was suspended for five.

The defenceman has appealed the decision hoping to convince NHL commissioner Gary Bettman that his suspension should be reduced.

Whatever happens, the defenceman with a squeaky-clean record has built a strong reputation over 11 NHL seasons and his name is often thrown about when voting times comes for the the Lady Byng Trophy as the league’s most gentlemanly player.

For now, Rielly served his third game Saturday night and his fourth is set for Monday afternoon when the Leafs visit St. Louis. Will it continue to Game 5 in Arizona?

Dana White walks off Howie Mandel’s podcast after just 30 seconds

But was that a reason to storm off after 30 seconds? Probably not. But White did it anyway — after thanking Mandel for the “kind words.”

He sort of explained, “I am so f***ing tired of doing podcasts. I am literally done with them. I am not doing any more podcasts.”

White then left, leaving Mandel, his co-host and the other guest shocked before they proceeded as normally as possible. Oof.

His estranged wife, Sophie Gregoire, was spotted out with her doctor boyfriend Marcos Bettolli, her children and two friends at a restaurant in Ottawa’s Chinatown.

Reports of the relationship came out two months after the Trudeaus announced their split and it was reported that Gregoire and Bettolli had been together long before that.

While Sophie, Justin and their kids spent Christmas break together holidaying in the much-talked-about trip to Jamaica, Bettolli and his ex are in the middle of a bitter divorce battle.
