Raptors' Jontay Porter reportedly under investigation over betting irregularities

The Toronto Raptors’ dismal season has taken another ugly turn after allegations were reported that one of their players is under league investigation following several instances of betting irregularities over the last several months.

Citing multiple sources, ESPN reported on Monday evening that Raptors forward Jontay Porter is being investigated by the NBA.

At issue, according to ESPN, are prop bets involving Porter from games on Jan. 26 and March 20.

The NBA did not immediately respond to requests for a comment from ESPN.

Porter is on a two-way contract with the Raptors, earning $415,000 this season. He is the brother of Denver Nuggets star Michael Porter Jr.

He missed the Raptors game Saturday against the Washington Wizards for personal reasons, according to the team. He is listed as out for Monday’s game against the Brooklyn Nets for personal reasons.

Porter has played in 26 games, averaging 4.4 points, 3.2 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 14 minutes a game.

The Raptors entered Monday on a 10-game losing streak. With a 23-48 record, Toronto sits 12th in the Eastern Conference.
