Leafs fans in shock over ‘wild’ playoff ticket prices that start at over $400

The Toronto Maple Leafs secured a spot in the playoffs for an eighth consecutive season, but fans hoping to cheer them on will have to cough up some serious cash.

Presale tickets were available on Tuesday and tickets for the general public were made available on Wednesday at 10 a.m.—and fans are in shock over the prices. Users posted screenshots of ticket prices in the 100-section at Scotiabank Arena ranging from $1162 to $2127, and a seat way back in the 300 section costing $433.

“I’m definitely a die hard Leafs fan, I will forever bleed blue but I’m not an idiot LOL  @MapleLeafs,” one X user posted on Tuesday after checking out the presale ticket costs. “ WTF these playoff ticket prices are wild”.

Other X users readily agreed, adding that ticket prices for the Leafs are high wherever they play.

“It’s like that for any Leafs game,” one X user noted. “Whenever they come to Calgary the tickets are outrageous! Any other team – they price the games cheaper.  Leafs are the most expensive team to be a fan of in the league.”

Others added that costs substantially add up when traveling to see a game.

“Totally agree with you plus for me making the trip to Toronto from Ottawa the hotel and all the restaurants it’s a bit of a hit. But if/when they make it to the final, I’ll mortgage my house to be there and see that,” one user joked.

A few X users highlighted that ticket prices are too high in Canada in general—an issue that has been hotly debated in the past, with some noting that Ticketmaster uses a dynamic pricing model where ticket prices fluctuate based on demand.

The Leafs next play the New Jersey Devils this Thursday April 11 at Scotiabank Arena.
