PINEHURST, NC — Two days after his surprise withdrawal from this week’s U.S. Open, Jon Rahm looks to be settling into Father’s Day weekend like many golf dads across the country.
The two-time major champion posted a photo to social media on Thursday showing him drinking a coffee out of a “Dad” mug with his injured foot raised, a baby monitor perched in front of him and the television broadcast of the U.S. Open from Pinehurst in the background.
The message posted with the photo said, “Posted up and ready to enjoy the show @usopengolf.”
The mug in the photo is inscribed with “Aita” which means father in Rahm’s native Basque.

Rahm was forced to withdraw from the season’s third major after consulting with doctors about an infected wound on his left foot. His injured foot can be seen in the photo with a black and white bandage on it.
“After consulting with numerous doctors and my team, I have decided it is best for my long term health, to withdraw from this weeks U.S. Open Championship,” Rahm posted in a statement to social media on Tuesday. “To say I’m disappointed is a massive understatement!
“I wish all my peers the best of luck and want to thank all of the USGA staff, volunteers and community of Pinehurst for hosting and putting on what I’m sure will be an amazing championship! Hopefully I’ll be back in action sooner than later!”
This week’s news adds to an already-disappointing major championship season for the former world No. 1 golfer. Rahm was hoping to right the ship after finishing T45 at the Masters and missing the cut at the PGA Championship.
